Wellington
Wellington is located at the bottom of the North Island and it’s made up of rolling hills (so many beautiful hikes to do here!) a harbour, plenty of beaches and a rugged south coast.
Wellington City is the capital of New Zealand and is a hustle and bustle, with plenty to do! There are great museums, great cafes serving delicious food and coffee and a picturesque waterfront filled with food trucks, art installations and crocodile bikes (I'll explain more in the waterfront blog!). Despite it being a city, it's quite compact and easy to explore.
Step outside the CBD and the region opens right up - the south coast is exposed and dramatic, while the harbour side has quieter beaches, bays and walking tracks. Native birdlife is everywhere - we have seen so many lorikeets, tui, wood pigeon and even kaka.
The region also has some beautiful architecture, especially on the older buildings and churches and there always seems to be something to photograph in this beautiful city. I'm not a huge city fan but I love how many photo ops there are here!
After spending almost 3 years exploring the South Island, we're FINALLY exploring the North Island and can't wait to show you all the best spots! The blogs saying coming soon will be up and ready for reading very soon - thank you for your patience!
