ONE OF THE BEST VIEWS IN MARLBOROUGH

On the way to the waterfall
With social media playing a huge part in showing off what NZ has to offer, I love it when I come across hikes that aren't well known because I get to see the view with fresh eyes. I came across Mt Takorika in one of my endless searches about Marlborough - seriously, these places don't just fall into my lap, it cames with some pretty hefty searching that takes hours and hours!
a sucker for seeking out walks and hikes around New Zealand that aren't super popular or talked about much. When I came across Mt Takorika, I didn't find too much information about it but decided to give it a go because how could you go wrong with hiking to the top of a mountain, especially near the Sounds! The views were waaaaaaay more than we expected!
In New Zealand, DOC (the Department of Conservation) usually manages most of the walking and hiking trails – they’re well marked and it’s hard to get lost or confused on them. But every now and then, we come across trails that are run by locals or the council, and the navigation system is a bit different from what we’re used to. It can be harder to find detailed info about these kinds of tracks. We weren’t exactly sure what to expect heading up the mountain, but anything with decent elevation is almost always guaranteed to come with a breathtaking view!
