Northland & Bay Of Islands
Northland is where New Zealand really starts to feel like paradise — golden beaches, subtropical forests, and a coastline that seems to go on forever. At the heart of it is the Bay of Islands, a collection of more than 140 islands, perfect for sailing, kayaking, or just soaking up the views from the mainland.
For travellers, there’s plenty to plan for: cruising with dolphins, exploring historic towns like Russell and Kerikeri, swimming at Paihia or the hidden coves, and hiking through native forest to waterfalls and lookouts. Northland is best explored by car so you can reach all the remote beaches, surf spots, and scenic viewpoints at your own pace.
After spending almost 3 years exploring the South Island, we'll soon be heading to the North Island to explore it intensively and show you all the best spots - watch this space!!
